NPI Program Manager

Redwood City, CA

Bear Robotics was started in 2017 to address the increased pressure faced by the food service industry around wages, labor supply, and cost efficiencies. Our company has developed a robot named Penny enabled by artificial intelligence and able to autonomously shuttle food from a kitchen out to tables and bring dishes back for cleaning. If you want to dive into deep-tech with an A+ team, Bear Robotics is a perfect place for you.

We are growing and for our headquarters in Redwood City, CA we’re looking for an experienced NPI Program Manager who wants to play a key role in executing successful new product manufacturing launces in concert with our product roadmap.

Your Story

After graduating with a manufacturing, industrial engineering or similar degree, you’ve spent more 5 – 7 years or more in a hardware OEM or CM organization(s) with well-honed PLC processes and drove several products from prototype to mass production.

Maybe you feel stuck, plateaued, same tasks day in and out and there’s no promotion or further development for you on the horizon. But you know you could do so much more!

You are passionate about evangelizing DFx and developing and realizing ambitious NPI schedules with a focus on quality and timeliness. The shop floor is your second home. You are adept in assuring proper product documentation. You want to own projects, define and achieve project milestones and drive constant innovation and optimization. You’re missing the team spirit and you know with your go-getter personality and people-focused mentality that you’re ready to steer motivated cross-functional teams toward successful releases.

In a nutshell: It’s time for a career change into a fast-pacing, dynamic and get-go working environment. And that’s exactly what you can find at Bear Robotics.

Where we need your help:

  • Generation, review and management of internal Manufacturing development plans (test & process)

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of Bear’s formal PLC process

  • Ensuring BoMs are properly structured and that all materials, process

documentation, test equipment, fixtures, and build plans are in place at our CM

  • Developing, coordinating and managing transition/ramp plans into CM partners.

Providing leadership during transfer from NPI gateway facilities to high-volume

    facilities (international)

  • Coordination with Engineering and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to

ensure products are optimized for cost, manufacturability, testability and supply

    chain flexibility and efficiency (DFx)

  • Leading the Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams in planning and executing

NPI builds and ensure readiness for volume production

  • Managing all Manufacturing and Supply Chain-related NPI communications,

upward and downward through the organization; escalate key issues and

    present options for resolution

  • Providing Manufacturing guidance during concept phase of product

  • Provide quality management support and issue resolution for assigned projects

  • Develop processes and procedures related to NPI

  • Will likely perform sustaining activities between NPI cycles

Optimally you posses:

  • A Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent

  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in an electromechanical environment. Direct

factory or operational experience is a plus

  • Experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment with limited structure

  • Comfort and enthusiasm with ambiguity and rapid changes

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers as service providers

We’re not a big tech company yet, but we’re striving every day to be THE global player when it comes to hospitality robotics. A start-up gives you the chance for personal development, building up expertise in your field without being too niche and enjoy short direct ways of communication.

Our team believes that one day it will be difficult to imagine a restaurant without our autonomous robots designed for running, bussing and other front-end restaurant tasks. Almost 30 motivated mechanical, software engineers and business developers work hard for that mission every day, which also means extra hours are needed sometimes and lastminute improvements are always possible.

We will challenge you to walk the extra mile, pick your brain until it smokes and make you think outside the box. But we would also like to have an after work drink with you or celebrate our milestones and successes.

If you feel that could be your next career move and you’re ready for your new professional adventure in robotics, we would love to hear from you.
